Inhouse Project 1: UNRAVELLING THE PROCESSES, PATHWAYS AND GENES FOR IMPROVING RESOURCE USE EFFICIENCY, QUALITY, STRESS TOLERANCE AND YIELD OF CROPS (PI: Dr. Renu Pandey)
Date of start/completion of the project: 01.04.2021 to 31.03.2026
Objectives of the project:
1. To characterize component traits and elucidate physiological bottlenecks in resource use efficiency, abiotic stress tolerance and yield in cereals, pulses and oilseeds crops by using deep phenotyping and phenomics.
2. To decipher pathways and genes/QTLs for component traits of resource use efficiency, quality, abiotic stress tolerance and yield in crops by using phenomics, genomics and systems biology approaches.
3. To engineer genes and pathway for resource use efficiency, abiotic stress tolerance and yield by using transgenic approach.
4. To develop biostimulants, PGRs, and other management strategies to enhance yield and quality under stress and non-stress environments.
Inhouse Project 2: GENOME EDITING FOR IMPROVING RESOURCE USE EFFICIENCY, QUALITY, STRESS TOLERANCE AND YIELD OF CROPS (PI: Dr. Viswanathan Chinnusamy)
Date of start/completion of the project: 01.04.2021 to 31.03.2026
Objectives of the project
1. To decipher the function of candidate genes in rice, wheat, mustard, tomato, soybean and mungbean by employing RNA-guided genome editing
2. To improve RUE, quality, stress tolerance and yield of elite cultivars, and yield/domestication traits in landraces/wild species for insta-crop
3. To identify superior alleles of genome edited transgene free mutants with improved resource use efficiency, quality, stress tolerance and yield
4. To develop human resources
