The Division of Entomology, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, has developed two eco-friendly pest management solutions for fruit flies of economic importance: the “Pusa CueFly Kit” for cucurbits and the “Pusa MeFly Kit” for fruit crops. These kits are based on semiochemical technology, utilizing species-specific attractants to effectively monitor and manage fruit fly populations in the field. Designed for ease of use and field applicability, they enable timely detection and mass trapping of key pest species, thereby reducing dependence on chemical insecticides. The deployment of these kits supports integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, minimizes crop losses, and promotes sustainable and environmentally safe agricultural practices. These kits are available for sale at the Division.
