Nematology

  The First Year B. Sc. Zoology (Hons.) Students from Daulat Ram College, and Desh Bandhu College, Delhi University visited the Division of Nematology, ICAR-IARI on a study       trip to learn about nematode extraction techniques and nematodes. They were welcomed to the Division by Dr Pankaj, Head of the Division. Dr. Vishal Somvanshi and Dr.           Rashid Pervez, Principal Scientists, appraised the students about nematodes through a talk, followed by a demonstration of the techniques for nematode extraction from plant   and soil samples by technical officers Mr. Pawan, Mr. Mukesh Meena, Mr. Gaurav and Mr. Purshotam. Daulat Ram college students were also taken for a field visit to          Nematology microplots and glass house. The students appreciated the information they received on parasitic nematodes through talks, demonstration, field visit and      observation of the disease symptom specimens preserved in the divisional museum.

Twenty Farmers from Bihar, visited Division of Nematology for a training programme on Plant Protection through Integrated Pest Management 12 to 20 January 2025, conducted by ICAR-NRIIPM, New Delhi

 

Dr. Pankaj, Head Division of Nematology highlighted the significance of IPM in Agriculture and also addressed the farmers from Bihar the role of Nematodes in reducing the yield and productivity of various crops in India. 

 

Dr. Sharad Mohan, Principal Scientist gave brief introduction and role of beneficial Nematodes (Entomopathogenic) in management of important insect pests of different crops. The farmers were told about the technologies developed by the Division of Nematology for pest management. 

Successful Completion of two Training Program on Identification and Diagnosis of Plant-Parasitic Nematodes for technical staff 

The Division of Nematology, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, successfully conducted three-day training program for the technical and scientific staff on “Identification and Diagnosis of Plant-Parasitic Nematodes and Nematode Diseases of Crops” from March 5 to March 7, 2025 and 10-12 March, 2025. The event witnessed the participation of 23 participants from various institutions across India. The program was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr C. Viswanathan, joint Director Research. The training programmed directed by Dr Pankaj, Head, Division of Nematology and coordinated by Drs. M R Khan, Vishal S Somvanshi, Rashid Pervez, Dr. Ashish Kumar Singh, and Dr. Vikas Bamel

The final-year B.Sc. (Ag.) students from Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, visited the Division of Nematology, ICAR-IARI on a study trip to learn about nematodes on March 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
