Indian Type Culture Collection (ITCC) [Catalogue]
The Indian Type Culture Collection (ITCC), was established in 1936 in the then Division of Mycology and Plant Pathology, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi with a view to furnish the knowledge on living fungi. ITCC is an affiliate member of the World Federation of Culture Collection (WFCC) and is registered with the World Data Centre for Microorganisms (WDCM) having the Geographical Index number 430.
ITCC is an oldest culture collection of the country, is located in the Division of Plant Pathology, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. and is known for National Repository for maintenance, supply and identification of fungal cultures. Research Institutes of ICAR, CSIR, ICMR, State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), traditional universities, national and multinational companies dealing with fungal cultures are the regular clients and beneficiaries of the dedicated services provided by the ITCC. The beneficiaries of ITCC are not only from India but also from other countries like Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Germany, France, United Kingdom and United States of America.
The main objectives of ITCC are to act as a repository, to supply authentic fungal cultures and identification of fungi as well as to provide related services to farmers, technocrats and scientists working in research Institutions, Universities and Industries for teaching, demonstration and investigational purposes to mycologists and plant pathologists throughout the country.

SERVICES
Identification of fungal and bacterial cultures
Identification of different groups of fungi (Zygomycetes, Ascomycetes and Basidiomycetes)and fungi like organisms(Oomycetes) and plant pathogenic bacteria are done on payment basis received from researchers and students of different parts of the country along with the prescribed request form (Annexure I). The report is sent after identification.
Supply of fungal cultures
Authentic fungal and bacterial cultures (Phytopathogenic and selected bacterial biocontrol agents) are supplied as an active cultures on agar slants and are dispatched along with the report by surface mail within the country while, by air mail outside the country after three to four weeks of receiving the request in the prescribed format (Annexure II).
Deposition of cultures
Fungal and bacterialcultures which are morphologically and molecularly identified and are of Indian origin having some special features (producers of enzymes, toxins, antibiotics) and newly reported taxa (including new genera, new species and new records) will be deposited at ITCC to ensure ex-situ conservation of microbial diversity. The depositors are advised to give the relevant details in the prescribed format (Annexure III) and send the filled form along with the cultures for deposition at ITCC.

GLIMPSES OF HERBARIUM CRYPTOGAMAE INDIAE ORIENTALIS (HCIO) [Catalogue]
The foundation of Herbarium Cryptogamae Indiae Orientalis (HCIO), a national fungal herbarium facility was laid down by Sir Edwin John Butler at Pusa, Bihar in 1905. After disastrous earthquake at Pusa, Bihar in 1934, the HCIO was shifted to the Division of Mycology and Plant Pathology, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. Ever since its inception in 1905, the HCIO continued with the identification, classification and conservation of fungal specimens.

Accession of fungal diseased specimens:
Identified specimens can be sent for accession. The HCIO accession number will be allotted to the specimens and the accession report will be sent within one month after receipt of specimens. It is necessary to mention this HCIO numbers in publication.
