The Division of seed Science and Technology (DSST) has a Seed Testing Laboratory (STL) which caters to the seed testing needs of public and private agencies to gain information regarding planting value of seed lots. Seed quality testing is a mandatory requirement for sale of commercial seed as well as in-house quality control mechanism with respect to the seed production programme undertaken by the institute. The STL is also actively involved in conducting research related to solving the practical problems in seed testing and has contributed significantly in the formulation and standardization of seed testing protocols, and development of seed standards for uninvestigated crop species.

We have competent, trained and experienced scientific as well as technical manpower who provide regular service in the interest of the seed sector in the country. We also conduct various trainings for seed analysts and other officials working in STL across India. Besides, the STL is also generating revenue to the Institute through seed testing of commercial samples and resource generation through seed testing services during the year 2023-24 was about Rs. 4.38 lakh.

2. Purity Analysis: Rs. 500/-
3. Germination Test: Rs. 500/-
4. Seed Health Test: Rs. 1200/-
