ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute
Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao is currently serving as the Director, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, one of India's premier agricultural research institutions.
Dr. Rao brings over three decades of distinguished experience in Agricultural Research, Natural Resource Management, and Institutional Leadership. He most recently served as Director of the ICAR-NAARM (2017–2024), following his tenure as Director of the ICAR-CRIDA (2014–2017). Prior to these leadership roles, he served as Project Coordinator of the All India Coordinated Research Project on Dryland Agriculture, and held key scientific positions- Principal Scientist, Senior Scientist, and Scientist - across premier ICAR institutions, including the ICAR-IISS and the ICAR-IIPR.
He has been actively associated with leading international research organizations such as the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics and has contributed significantly to global scientific processes under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
An elected Fellow of several prestigious science academies like INSA, NAAS, NASI etc., Dr. Rao is a recipient of numerous eminent national and international awards. His work reflects sustained excellence and impactful contributions to agricultural research, climate-resilient agriculture, and sustainable natural resource management.
