Peninsular Zone (Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Goa and Plains of Tamil Nadu)
It is an early maturing (101 days), semi-dwarf (80 cm), thermo-tolerant wheat variety with an average yield of 4.21 t/ha and genetic potential of 6.31 t/ha. This variety possesses high degree of resistance against leaf rust and stem rusts at seedling stage as well as at adult plant stage. It has shown superior quality parameters for most of the quality traits and end-use for bread and chapatti making with protein content of 13.3 percent.
This is the first variety of the country bred specifically for CA. It has genetic yield potential of more than 7t/ha. It out yielded the checks like HD 2967, PBW 550 and DBW 17 under CA by 11.13 to 20.74 % in NCR. It is resistant to high temperature at seedling stage. It escapes high temperature at maturity due to early seeding. It is highly resistant to brown rust and has lower incidence of Karnal bunt.
6.28
Early sown irrigated conditions under conservation agriculture (CA) environment
It has genetic yield potential of 5.5 t/ha. Average yield of this variety under late sown (after 15 th Dec.) is 4.78 t/ha under tilled condition and 4.79 t/ha under conservation agriculture condition. It is free from brown and yellow rust under natural condition and highly tolerant to Karnal bunt. Grain protein content is 11.7 %.
4.78
Late sown irrigated conditions under conservation agriculture (CA) environment
Northern Hill Zone (Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and North-Eastern States)
It possess semi-erect growth, waxy leaf sheath and blade, plant height (91cm) and takes 192 days to mature. HS542 possess field resistance to leaf & stripe rusts. It has semi-hard ovate shaped amber grains with 44g thousand grain weight. It has good chapatti quality score (7.88/10).
All dicoccum growing areas in India (Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu)
It is a semi dwarf variety with 85cm plant height, profusely tillering shown high degree of seedling and adult plant resistance, particularly for leaf and stem rust. Heat tolerant and high yielding with comparable quality as that of traditional dicoccum variety (NP 200).It has high protein (16.5%), higher grain weight (46.5 g) and high β-carotene (3.39ppm).
Northern Hill Zone (Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and North-Eastern States)
It has intermediate growth habit, tapering ear shape with intermediate ear density, mean height 101cm (IR), 97 cm (RF) and takes 175 days and 183 days to mature under rainfed and irrigated conditions, respectively in NHZ. Average thousand grain weight of this variety is 43g with amber, semi-hard and ovate grains
Released for in Hilly areas and areas adjoining hills in Tamil Nadu.
Semi dwarf wheat variety with non lodging traits, profusely tillering. It had shown high level of resistance against leaf, stem and stripe rust due to the presence of Sr2+, Lr24/Sr24, and Yr15. Sr2, a race non specific adult plant resistance gene (APR) which in combination with other rust resistance genes are expected offer durable resistance against most occurring pathotypes. It produces very nutritious grain, registering a mean test weight of 40.5g with more than 11 per cent protein, and high level of Iron (53.1ppm), Zinc (46.3ppm), Copper (5.33ppm) and Manganese (47.5ppm) indicating excellent grain nutritional quality. In addition, this variety has high scores for bread making quality (7.0 out of 10), chapathi quality (7.4 out of 10)
Mean yield of 40.76 q/ha with a genetic potential of 59.6q/ha.
Medium fertility, limited irrigated, timely sown conditions
North Eastern Plain Zone comprising East of UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal (excluding hills), Orissa, Assam and plains of N. E. States
It has genetic yield potential of 4.63 t/ha. The variety has high level of resistance against stripe rust; leaf rust and stem rust. The stripe rust resistance is postulated on the basis of unknown R gene hence, can contribute to wheat rust diversification of stripe rust resistance base. Leaf rust resistance it is based on slow rusting gene Lr 13 along with Lr 10. It has high sedimentation value (57.66), good chapati score (7.76) and biscuit spread factor (7.84) indicating its suitability for various end use products. The iron content (47.1 ppm) is also higher in this variety
