  • IARI-VO Collaborative Programme

    The another farmer-centered extension programme initiated by IARI is collaborative technology dissemination programme with the voluntary organization (VOs) of the country. In this effort, institute has linked with 31 VOs from different part of the country. The main focus of this approach is to utilize the grassroot base of the VOs and their supporting logistics and backstopping them with improved agricultural production technologies of IARI for their micro-level on-farm assessment and further transfer. This way tripartite benefit has been ensured for VOs, farmers and IARI. This project has also been initiated since 2010.

  • IARI Krishi Vigyan Mela:

    Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela 2015 will be held on March 10-12, 2015

    Theme : IARI Technologies for Inclusive Growth

    Every year, IARI organises annual Krishi Vigyan Mela for three days on a major theme of current importance.  The Mela is generally inaugurated by Hon'ble Minister of Agriculture in the presence of Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR and other dignitaries. The technologies developed by IARI focussed on a major theme are displayed in a huge thematic pandal.

    Besides IARI, State Agricultural Universities, ICAR Institutes, Private and Public Sector Undertakings, NGOs / Societies and progressive farmers also participate in the Mela to display their technologies for the benefit of farming community.  Visitors in large numbers from different parts of the country including farmers, farm women, students, extension workers, entrepreneurs and others visit the Mela.

    Field visits of farmers are organised to show them the different live crop demonstrations, protected cultivation systems and experimental plots of IARI farm. Three technical sessions and a Women Empowerment Workshop are also organised to facilitate learning and sharing of information among the farmers/farm women.  

    Kisan Advisory Cell functions throughout the Mela period where farmers get advisory services and on-spot solutions to agricultural related problems from the subject matter specialists of IARI/ SAUs/ Other ICAR Institutes.

    High yielding seeds of different crops are sold through Pusa Seed Sale Counter in the Mela. Many farmers from operational areas of the Institute put up their stalls in the Mela and sell seeds of high yielding varieties produced on their fields through Farmer Participatory Seed Production programme of IARI.

    During Valedictory Function of the Krishi Vigyan Mela progressive farmers / farm women from different states are honoured.  Major themes of IARI Krishi Vigyan Mela are given below:

    Awarding progressive / innovative farmers is an important component of Krishi Vigyan Mela which helps in motivating the farmers. Farmers are awarded based upon their innovations developed and adoption of new technologies.

  • Training programmes for farmers and Extension Professional

    Regular training programmes on relevant topics for upgradation of knowledge and skill of extension functionaries of development department and farmers of Delhi. Sponsored training programmes by different State Development Departments / NGOs etc on case to case basis as per the resource availability, hostel and other facilities available at the Institute. 

  • Exhibition

    IARI technologies, products and services are displayed and promoted through participation in various important International / National / Regional / Institutional agricultural exhibitions in different parts of the country.

  • Field Days

    CATAT is organising need based field days in farmers field. The field days is based on rabi or kharif season on the demonstration areas.

  • Frontline Demonstrations

    Front Line Demonstrations of net technologies of wheat (Directorate of Wheat Research) and maize (Directorate of Maize Research) are regularly conducted in selected villages of Western districts of UP, NCR districts of Haryana and NCT Delhi. These demonstrations cover different latest Wheat and Maize varieties and other improved production technologies.

  • Mass media initiatives for farmers capacity building and Akashwani Krishi Pathshala

    For speedy transfer of technological information to the farmers at mass level, Indian Agricultural Research Institute Pusa, New Delhi (IARI) in collaboration with All India Radio (AIR) New Delhi and Doordarshan (DD) New Delhi has taken up a new initiative as a model by organizing Akashwani Krishi Pathshala and Krishi darshan Pathshalas on different crops and their production technologies.

  • Publications

    Centre brings out useful publications for the farmers in form of technical bulletins, booklets and pamphlets from time to time.

  • Production Unit

    To address need-based problems of the farmers Production Unit represented by scientists from different divisions / centres of the Institute forms a useful component of the Centre in effective implementation of its various action research / TOT programmes.
