Training / Extension Activities

  • The Division has played an active and leadership role in undertaking innovative training programmes on basic and applied aspects of extension education process since 1960s for farmers, farm youth, extension professionals, development managers, scientists, teachers and students.
  • The training function of this Division got impetus after the establishment of Centre of Advanced Studies in Agricultural Extension in 1995.
  • On an average 3-4 programmes are conducted every year for capacity building of extension professionals, faculty, technical staff and students.
  • The emphasis of training programmes has been shifted to impart knowledge and skill in the  emerging areas related to participatory extension methodology, indigenous technology, improvement of management skills, leadership development, entrepreneurship development, empowerment of farm women, evaluation, capacity building, innovative extension approaches, ICT and market-led extension systems, social research methodology and knowledge management.
  • The training methodology involves interactive lectures, experiential learning, instrumented exercises, simulation games and case studies.
