Quality seed production during the past six years at SPU, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi
Production of quality seed at SPU, ICAR-IARI2015-16
The SPU mainly focuses on quality seed production using 64 varieties of cereals, pulses, oil seeds, vegetables and flowers crops. The total production of quality seed reached 382.997 tonsduring 2015-16 and which encompasses of different classes of seed i.e. nucleus seed (5.198 t), breeder seed (89.3018 t)and TFL seed (288.4772 t)at Seed Production Unit, IARI and farmer’s field (through participatory seed production) respectively. Further, unit also involved in production of fruit saplings and which was spectacular touching a production level of 1493 numbers during the same year. The details of quality seed production are given following table.
